Are there Hot Springs in Poncha Springs, Colorado?

Poncha Springs is a small town located at the crossroads of US 50 and US 285. It was first inhabited by the Ute Indians, who used the area mainly for camping and hunting. The area also had hot springs, which were later capped and pumped into Salida and are still being capped and pumped into Salida to date.

The Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center is the largest indoor hot spring facility in the country with three pools indoors and two pools outdoors, offering relaxation and recreation in natural mineral water. The spring water is collected underground and pumped 8 miles from its source in the majestic Rocky Mountains. The sparkling clear and odorless water flows continually into the Salida Hot Springs pools, refreshing and warming them naturally.

Two lap lanes are usually available at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center: a large 6 lane, 25-meter lap pool, and a smaller, warmer leisure pool. The large pool is ideal for recreational play, diving, and swimming. The smaller pool is ideal for soaking, aqua therapy, and young children. The leisure pool has a stair entry and a zero depth entry, making it easily accessible.

The aquatic center has an ADA compliant lift for easy access into the large pool and the leisure pool. Each pool features a stepped entry with handrails to further ease entry.  

Rent Private Soaking Pools

You can always rent a private soaking pool at the facility but you must note that it is a glass and alcohol free zone and thus you must adhere to the guidelines. No other facility can compare to Salida Hot springs and its pool is the largest indoor hot springs facility countrywide.

There are many fun things to do while at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center. The aquatic center runs swim lessons, open swim, parent/tot swim, and lap swim. The center also offers lap swimming and drop-in water fitness classes such as sunrise water yoga, water volleyball, splash fitness, and cardio splash, which are conducted at either the leisure or lap pool.

Atmosphere

A community-centered pool, family-friendly, and private soaking pools are available for rent.

Know Before You Go

There are smaller pools available for private soaking. Reservations are recommended as the pools may fill up. All private pools are fed with natural hot springs and their temperature is maintained at a little over 100°F. To rent a private soaking pool, you must be 18 years and above. You cannot enter into a Salida Hot Springs pool with alcohol or glass in your hand.
